BLAST OFF: A 4-WEEK SERIES ON DISCIPLESHIP
WEEK 4 BIG IDEA: We can serve others.

SERIES OVERVIEW:

If you’re a grown-up and you’ve been following Jesus for a while, you’ve probably figured out a few ways to grow spiritually. The kids in your ministry, on the other hand, aren’t grown-ups, so they might need a little help from you to figure out how, exactly, to grow spiritually. So what should spiritual growth look like for a kid? We like to think about it in terms of four spiritual habits. To help a kid grow spiritually, teach them to spend time with God, spend time with others, use their gifts, and share their story. These are the 4 keys to discipleship that will help kids launch their faith.

Remember that kids crave significance and opportunities to serve others and grow in leadership. You can help them by setting an example of servanthood in your own life (which you’re already doing just by showing up and serving them!) and encouraging them to serve in church. Even if it’s not a formal serving role, they can help with greeting and welcoming other kids, gathering and cleaning up supplies, and executing games, experiments and object lessons. They can help lead the other kids in worship or run media and sound during the service. Encourage kids to serve others and praise them when you see them serving well.

At least once this month, choose a volunteer to celebrate. Add their picture and a few sentences about what makes them awesome!
